Truck and Trailer Service Technician - Day and Night Shifts
Have technical truck know-how? Wheelco is looking for a Full-time, Level 3 Service Technician at our Sioux Falls, SD location. However, we will train the right candidate, whether it be a Level 1 or 2 Service Technician. Repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers according to company standards and procedures.
The Service Technician/Mechanic will use approved service techniques, materials and parts to properly service each vehicle.
Responsible for evaluating and completing all work and ensuring that each vehicle meets or exceeds established quality standards while adhering to our company policies and procedures.
Inspect and diagnose vehicle damage and/or malfunctions.
Conduct preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections Perform routine and/or scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements).
Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
Test-drive vehicles for proper functionality.
Test components using proper equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems (leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems).
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, air conditioning, and custom exhaust systems.
Diagnose, repair and install mobile fluid power systems and components.
Diagnose fifth wheels, trailer hitches, pintle hooks, auxiliary axles and frames.
Repair front axle king pin and bushing.
Diagnose driveline problems and repair or replace clutches, driveshafts, differentials, and transmissions.
Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
Record final job explanation & repair notes on service orders.
Complete special customer request(s).
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing operating errors causes and conducting repairs
Restoring: Repairing vehicles and/or equipment using the needed tools.
Continuing Education: Keeping current with industry advancements, future problem-solving and decision-making.
Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to problem solve.
Lift up to 60 lbs. without assistance, stand, sit, bend and twist for extended periods of time on concrete.
Have a strong attention to detail.
Be organized, a hard worker, a team player and self-motivated.
Have an ability to communicate well with all team members.
Strong customer service skills.
Have an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must a valid driver’s license.
Must have own tools.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Prefer a minimum of three years of experience but are willing to train the right candidate
